Spring Ball

The Spring Ball is an upgrade for the Morph Ball that allows it to jump.

It appears in most Metroid games with the exception of Metroid (NES) and the GameCube versions of Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2 Echoes.

In other games that the Spring Ball is utilized in, Spring Ball is either packaged with Hi-Jump, or is with the Morph Ball as part of a jumping move performed by flicking the Wii-Mote.

[edit] Metroid 2: Return of Samus

The Spring ball makes its very first appearance in Metroid 2 and is one of two Morph ball add-ons for Samus, the other being the Spider Ball.

The spring ball is located in sector 2.

[edit] Super Metroid

The spring ball makes its second appearance in Super Metroid and is located in Maridia, beyond a sand-wall that can only be destroyed by a Shaktool.

Due to the somewhat out of the way location of the Spring ball, a remote portion of Maridia that requires a pretty trick jump without Space Jump to obtain, it is sometimes forgotten by players and is considered one of the more pointless upgrades of the game.

The spring ball is not required to progress any major locations on Zebes. Only when getting out of the room it is obtained in, a small, morph ball maze.

[edit] Metroid Zero mission

The spring ball (or spring jump as names in this game) makes its third appearance in Metroid Zero mission and is obtained alongside the High jump boots.

Both these items are acquired in Norfair. In order to obtain it you will need the Speed booster.
