The Steamlord is a powerful commander-like unit that leads the defence of inner SkyTown on Elysia alongside the Steambot. Appearance-wise, they're one of the scarier creatures of the Metroid series. Their body is skeletal in its design and also wears a material cloak for reasons unknown.
They may not have offensive capabilites, but their presence can be devastating. They have a cloaking device that can generate invisibility, taking a huge chunk of potential killing time away from the player. And when they do materialise, they'll use their other ability to resurrect fallen Steambots. This forces the player to choose between taking out the Steambots again or the Steamlord, who will often appear behind the player in order to avoid being destroyed.
Interestingly, there is only three Steamlords in the entirety of Metroid Prime 3: Corruption.
 Logbook Entry
"Steamlords command the worker drones of SkyTown. They also repair them when they malfunction or break down. Lightly armored, they rely on their cloaking field to evade enemies. They can generate localized EMP fields to hinder enemy visor systems."
