Power Bomb

Contents

[edit] Overview

The Power Bomb is a very powerful weapon available during Morph Ball mode, which sends waves throughout the area which can completely obliterate everything around you. This bomb variation's first appearance was in Super Metroid. The Power Bomb is highly dangerous, and poses a threat to anyone or anything nearby, so it requires caution and should only be used at the right time. In Metroid: Other M the Power Bomb isn't available except at the beginning and towards the end of the game due to a need for the authority to use it. Power Bombs, however, are available for most of the game throughout other titles in the Metroid Series.

[edit] Appearances

[edit] Super Metroid

Quantity increases through the collection of Power Bomb Expansion upgrades. It can open a Yellow Door as well as destroy a Power Bomb Block. Samus has the special ability to absorb the energy from a Power Bomb and turn it into health using a move called Crystal Flash. It's not as easy as it sounds, however, as it requires the player to be on low health and requires a lot of ammunition. She can also use this in combination with a Charge Beam attack to make on of the four Special Charge Beam Attack.

[edit] Metroid Fusion

The Power Bomb upgrade is acquired through the Data Room, sent by the Galactic Federation. The Power Bomb has the ability to reveal hidden pathways and obstacles, break through a Bio-Barrier, and destroy a Power Bomb Block.

[edit] Metroid: Zero Mission

Quantity increases through the collection of Power Bomb Expansion upgrades. The Power Bomb has the ability to reveal hidden pathways and obstacles, can open a Yellow Door, and destroy a Power Bomb Block.

[edit] Metroid Prime / Metroid Prime 2: Echoes

Has the ability to destroy a Yellow Blast Shield.

[edit] Metroid Prime: Pinball

Has the ability to dish out huge damage to all enemies present.

[edit] Metroid: Other M

In this game, the Power Bomb is not limited by ammunition quantity. As such, it's a limitless weapon, but has the counterbalance of a long regeneration time. Other than in training, the weapon is not authorized again until it's required in order to destroy a Queen Metroid.
