[edit] Overall

Phazon is a blue colored substance found mainly in the Metroid Prime Series. Phazon can be infused with many things and it will often corrupt them, making them act obscenely. They will often become hostile and attack. Phazon can be used as a lethal weapon as well, and it will kill many things if it corrupts them. Phazon is useful to Samus Aran throughout the Metroid Series, however. In Metroid Prime 3: Corruption she got a Phazon-enhanced suit called the PED Suit, and this allowed her to enter Hypermode, a state in which all shots fired are Phazon.

Phaaze is a planet in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption that has been completely corrupted by Phazon. Dark Samus also resides here.

Phazon is very useful and also very dangerous, but also has alot to do with the Metroid Series.

[edit] Appearances

[edit] Metroid Prime

Metroid Prime is the first game in which Phazon appeared. After the Space Pirates discovered this substance at the core of Tallon IV, they began obtain specimens of it and did research on it. The Space Pirates experimented on many local bio-forms, killing most, but highly corrupting a select few. A few of these bio-forms were their own kind, the Space Pirates. Nearly all of these attempts were fatal to those who were experimented on.

This would have continued, had Samus Aran not gone into the Phazon Mines and eventually to the Impact Crater, where she fought the most corrupted organism, Metroid Prime. The plans of the Space Pirates were seemingly foiled, and the planet was spared from further corruption.

[edit] Metroid Prime 2: Echoes

In Metroid Prime 2: Echoes the Space Pirates found another planet that could be used for their plans of using Phazon, called Aether. After searching and only obtaining minimal amounts of Phazon, the Space Pirates found out that the Phazon radiation they had been picking up was coming from a parallel dimension to Aether, Dark Aether. After trying to come into Dark Aether, the Space Pirates could not withstand the atmosphere of the planet which is poisonous, and were ambushed by creatures residing there.

Eventually, a figure takes what Phazon the Space Pirates did obtain, and made off with it. This figure is later on figured out to be Dark Samus, and after venturing into the planet Dark Aether, Samus Aran eliminates Dark Samus, thus destroying the Ing and closing Metroid Prime 2: Echoes.

[edit] Metroid Prime 3: Corruption

Phazon's role in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption was the most prominent than others in the Metroid Prime Series.

An entire string of planets have been corrupted in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption by Dark Samus. She has launched a Leviathan into each planet, and she has corrupted an elite group of bounty hunters. This includes Samus Aran, Ghor, Rundas, and Gandrayda. These hunters were all turned against Samus, and Samus is the only one not corrupted by the Phazon.

Samus ventures into each planet, going far into each to destroy the Leviathans and save the planets from further corruption. In the end, Samus is fully corrupted and ventures into planet Phaaze, Dark Samus' homeworld. In the end, she destroys Dark Samus hopefully for good, and destroys Aurora Unit 313 with her.

This has ridden all of the planets of Dark Samus hopefully for good, thus closing the last game in the Metroid Prime Series.
