MAPS

Metroid Prime: Hunters features over 25 different maps and it is important to know their layout.

Ordered By:
1. Combat Hall
Best Hunters : Samus,Trace
Items : Affinity, Magmaul, Missles
Size : Small
A basic but popular level. The Combat Hall feature an open lower level with a blast shield on one side with an affinity weapon and health on one side and a jump pad with the Magmaul on the other. On one side there is a tunnel with a window to shoot out of or in to. There is also health in this tunnel, in 3 to 4 players this becomes gold health.

The Jump Pad leads to an alt form track that takes you through two blue health and by missles. At the end is a balcony with a low blast shield and UA ammo.

2. Data Shrine
Best Hunters : Any
Items : All Weapons, Missles
Size : Small
A weapon comprised of an outer ring and inner arena. The outer ring holds UA and health with four paths to the inner arena. Two doors for biped and two alt doors, the alt doors contain the Shock Coil and Imperialist.

In the corners of the arena are the other four weapons and missles in the center. In 3-4 player the outer health becomes gold and health appears in the inner arena. In the center there are a series of platforms and bridges to the alt exits.

The curving outer ring makes it good for bouncing weapons while the inside is good for sniping through holodoors or using other weapons.

Though this map is ranked small, it is actually fairly big.

3. Processor Core
Best Hunters : Noxus, Sylux, Trace
Items : DeathAlt, Double Damage, Judicator, Magmaul, Affinity Weapon
Size : Small
Processor Core

Spire is one of the best hunters on Processor Core, due to his ability to set opponents on fire, combined with the Double damage makes him a much larger threat. Weavel is also another good choice because he has an advantage on most small maps.
[Thanks Supa Smurf for that info]

Right well as most of you know this level is one of the smallest maps on the game, this can be an advantage as well as a disadvantage, through my time in Metroid has past i have found that the best "Hunter" to use for this is "Noxus", my reasons for this is because of his Alt form the "Vhoscythe" i find this Alt to come in handy for this level, because of the small arena space, this makes the Vhoscythe a very deadly tool which is not to be reckoned with, i have a strategy i use called the "puncture" technique, to do this, try to force your opponent to get in close with you, or just simply get close to him yourself, go into your alt Phase and knock him once, normally the hit should through him back a few paces, while this happens the enemy user fights for control rather then shooting back giving you prime opportunity to through some easy blows, once he is knocked back, go into biped form and hit him hard with a couple or more missiles, once he retaliates, retreat to safety and find health before returning for another try.

Remember, your enemy is human and will learn, so stay focused, he will adapt so you wont be able to make the same hit again (if hes smart), this is the time when you use your "judicator" and use a common technique, i call this technique "Suprise" and no I'm not talking about rape, this is where you use your Afninity weapon, with Noxus, you can use his affinity to bounce bullets round corners, since Council chamber is a CQB level this comes in very handy, simply use the weapon to bounce around corners to hit your opponent, this will make it difficult for your enemy to flee and dodge at the same time, make sure to strafe his attacks while bouncing and don't worry about accuracy, bouncing the bullets in his direction will result in an almost definite hit, keep this up until he is dead, once he is dead, take the time opportunity to grab some health or stock up on missiles. Health, weapons and control of the map are all equally important, you must dominate the room using every slight advantage thrown your way, make it so your enemy cant get health or ammo, by getting it before him, even if you don't need it, this makes it so your enemy is left with nothing but what little life he has next, also their is something in this level not many realize, yes you guessed it, "death alt" this horrible little weapon makes every contact with the enemy a fatal blow, it is located in the upper tunnel of the chamber, make sure you have it before he does, if you don't get it first don't worry just make your way to the upper middle ledge, this will make it harder for your enemy to get to you, if he manages to get to you, simply jump over to the ledge on the left hand or right hand side of the ledge, repeat until the he runs out of power.

(Please note that there is a death alt present on the upper level of the map during a four player match)

4. High Ground
Best Hunters : Spire, Trace, Kanden, Samus, Sylux
Items : Double Damage, Affinity Weapon, Missles, Imperialist, Judicator, Magmaul
Size : Medium
A fairly large map, High Ground has three basic areas.

The first is the underground tunnel network. You will find health down here in addition to the Judicator. The compactness of the area makes it a good area for the Judicator. Jump Pads will take you back up to the second floor of the level.

The spawning area is the second area we'll go through. In the center is a statue with a Double Damage under it (alt form accessible). Near it is an Affinity Weapon and UA. This floor is fairly small but features drops to the tunnels and ramps to the second floor. The second floor is mainly a bunch of catwalks on the outside rim of the stage. In the back corner of one of the ramps is a door leading to a hallway. This will take you to floor three.

The top floor is very scarce. It has the Magmaul and Imperialist but it hard to travel across. The jump to the second platform isn't hard. The last jump to the Imperialist platform requires a long jump (falling off and jumping mid-air to get length as opposed to height).

The Imperialist location is usually camped by 1-3 stars. The reason 4-5 stars do not is because they know you can be headshot from here from the tunnels via a holo-door.

Close quarters combat will occur heavily in the tunnel while little will happen on the top except camping. The mid-region is where sniping, some alt form abusing, and other basic combat will occur.

5. Ice Hive
Best Hunters : Sylux, Trace, Samus
Items : Imperialist, Judicator, Volt Driver, Missles, Double Damage, DeathAlt
Size : Medium
A very popular map among all hunters that can end up being the most unbalanced to the inexperienced.

Ice Hive can be looked at as three areas. The first is the center, player spawn in holes in the wall and can get affinities and health in this area. Two jump pads are located here leading to the other areas.

The Jump leading into the cave of ice is the first area. This area is known for the DeathAlt power-up. Proceeding through the room with the Judicator brings us to the Crashed Pillar Room. In here is the DeathAlt. It is hidden in an out-croping in the wall. There are also two holo-doors here. The first leads back to spawn and the second leads over an icy catwalk to the Imperialist. Players will typically race to this place for the DeathAlt.

The other area can take you to the crashed pillar room faster. By going this route you go left through tunnels, get the Volt Driver instead, and reach the DeathAlt faster. Higher level players will go this route and can destroy each other in the tunnels which are very narrow.

Going left instead of right from this jump pad takes you to a small cave looking over the spawn. To the left is a concealed tunnel to a room with Double Damage. This room also has a bottomless pit so you must move carefully. The room will end up taking you back to the Judicator Room.

A trick to get to this room fast is to use the ice cave jump, move left and use your mid-air jump to reach the cave and proceed down the tunnel to the Double Damage.

Something to keep in mind is that if someone does get killed by the DeathAlt, that user will go to spawn to catch them again and again.

6. Alinos Perch
Best Hunters : Sylux, Trace, Samus
Items : Imperialist, Shock Coil, Magmaul, Affinity Weapon, Missles
Size : Medium
An interesting level to say the least, Alinos Perch has two main areas and has several locations that can be exploited. There is one jump pad that will take you to the Perch of the level. The perch is a secluded area accessible by holo-doors. It houses an Imperialist, a Shock Coil, Missles, and some Health. It also has a fairly open area to fight.

The Jump Pad I mentioned can also be used to reach the top of the large plateau in the middle of the arena simply by turning around and doing a mid-air jump. This area however, is not a preferred location to fight from. You can use the Imperialist from there but then so can someone from the holo-doors where you can't see them.

Interestingly enough, Sylux users can LockJaw glide from the plateau to the back of the level where there is a secure ridge to hide on.

The outside area features a Magmaul, platforms, health, and a ridged walkway in the far back with a blast shield. The bottom floor is open to fire fights and alt fests. The plateau can be used to reach elevated perchs in this area.

Alinos Pearch

This level is one of the biggest levels in the online multi-player, this level is great for banging around in your nasty alternative form and create a good environment that would make a snipers dream, so lets get down to some key features and tactics for this level, I recommend using any hunter for this particular level so I'll include tactics fro each character, this level is probably one of the most favoured of levels and one of the most recognised so any experienced player would no this level can be a load of fun, so lets get down to business, first of we have.

The Hunters

Trace

The Kriken with attitude, Trace is almost like a pilgrim, the Kriken empire sends a selected hunter out into the galaxy, they are normally sent at a young age, their objective is to find planets for their people to colonise and take any resources they can use to make their race stronger and better, this is where his place in Metroid Prime:Hunters takes place, when he hears of the great power, he sees this as a great opportunity for his people so he sets out to find it and bring it back to his people where he would be seen a hero for his find but unfortunately he wasn't the only one who knew of the great power.

Trace is normally seen as the sniper of the game, using the imperialist he dominates large areas very easily, but that's not all, he has something pretty sneaky up his sleeve, he has invisibility which triggers when he stands still for a certain length of time, his alt form is called the Triskelion, this speedy alt is powerful at CQB but virtually useless at fast repetitive moving, again if you stay still for a couple of seconds the alt form will also turn invisible, another feature of Trace that attracts players is his looks, his armour colour is red, and his armour is made of a Electro-synthetic bio alloy which can take blasts and bullets easy (like a sponge).

Sylux

Not much is known about Sylux, though he is known to have a hatred for the galactic federation, Sylux is a strong character an quite favoured by many online player of Metroid prime hunters, Sylux spends more time tracking Samus then looking for the ultimate power, he has a strong hatred fro Samus that also has unknown reasons, he acquired his armour by stealing it from the Galactic Federation, because his hands show that of a humans and also the armour was meant for the human species which suggests some proof that Sylux may actually be human, his weapon of choice is the shock coil which was a part of a prototype battle technology which Sylux stole from the Galactic Federation, he uses this weapon to sap the energy from other hunters suits and it recharges his suit, his alt form is called the lock jaw, this alt form is very agile and quick, it can drop two bombs to form a trip wire or a third to cause a triple bomb attack that takes nearly 200 health from the victim, this hunter proves more then a match for must other hunters and should not be taken a light threat.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Kanden

Kanden was created in a science lab, he was made to be the best hunter there ever was, or so the scientists would call him, a super soldier, they made him so he would be indestructable, to be able to kill or hunt anything he was told to, but his mind was corrupt because of the Enoema's, his brain couldn't take the complicated neural combat encoding sequences, he broke down under the pressure and destroyed the lab where he was created taking the scientists with it, after his neural break down, his mind was transformed, making him unstable and unpredictable, Kanden seeks the great power in hope it will make him more powerful then he already is, Kanden's weapon of choice is the volt driver, the electrical plasma bolts that emit from the Volt Driver make a fast and effective killer, when charged this weapon doubles in size and mass, when the charged shot makes contact with the opponent it caused an array of distortion which can easily throw the victim off balance with aim, especially of he is being attacked by multiple opponents, this weapon is formidable when used effectively, another feature of Kanden is his alt form, the Stinglava, though this alt type is one of the slowest, its also one of the most powerful, homing missiles emit from the rear of the form and track any enemy within its launch radius, its great if your being followed or attacked by more than one hunter.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Spire

Spire is the last of his kind, the Diamonts, an extremely strong race composed of silicon-based organic rock. He wearily searches for the fate and location of the rest of his people, if any. When Spire hears of a source of ultimate power in the Alimbic System, he is drawn by the possibility of information about his lost race. Spire's weapon of choice is the Magmaul, this lava type weapon can be shot normally of charged, a charged shot dispersed on impact causing a great amount of damage, or it can be rolled along the floor to make quick work of attacking alt forms, spires alt form is called the Dialanche, this spiky rock can cause a great amount of damage when it gets in close, two boulder like arms swing violently from the centre core smashing anything within its reach, anything caught in the blast can be thrown at a fair distance, definitely an alt you don't want to get close two, the Dialanche also has lava rock spikes that can dig into the walls enabling spire to climb them giving him an advantage on the field when finding hiding places or getting out of trouble.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Noxus

Noxus is a Vhozon, his home planet sits on the outer rim of the galaxy, Noxus dedicates his life to bringing peace to the galaxy and eliminating crime, when he learned of the ultimate power he sets out to find it in hope that he can use it to restore peace to the universe, or at least stop it from falling into the wrong hands, Noxus's weapon of choice is the Judicator, this form of icy weaponry is powerful when combined with Noxus fighting style, the weapon like the previously mentioned Missiles, Magmaul and Volt Driver uses a charge effect, when the Judicator is charged it gives of an icy shield that freezes all surrounding enemies, this freeze effect goes in three different dimensions, up, down, and forward, depending on the angle of release it can be maneuvered to go in different direction which increases Noxus appeal, the charged shot also releases a burst shot of icy lasers that bounce of objects which come into contact with the icy lasers, this becomes very useful when killing fleeing enemies, another of Noxus features is the Vhoscythe, this spinning top like form is another form which has great close combat specialties, a swinging blade that flicks out of the side of the form also has throwing capabilities, this alt form isn't very well matched for speed but for power in CQB this alt is your personal killing machine.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Weavel

Weavel is a Space Pirate general whose body was destroyed with only the brain and spinal cord surviving. He then was fused to a cybernetic body with a beam sword installed in his right arm. Weavel used to be a space pirate general, he battled with Samus, sadly for Weavel, when Samus was finished with Weavel, the only thing that remained was his brain and spinal cord, luckily he was found by the space pirates, his remains were merged with a life support system which was implanted in an armoured suit, along with the life support systems they also installed weaponry, which included the Electroscythe, after that he became a well known bounty hunter and was feared by many, Weavel's alt form is called the Half turret, this alt form allows him to split himself into two separate pieces, one piece (the lower half) changes into a stationary turret which bombards any enemies with heated plasma while the top part of Weavel travels around freely, using the blade attached to his army he can cut his way through his enemies, this alt form proves great at combat against multiple enemies though the only weakness is that when he uses his alt form, he half his health to, Weavels weapon of choice is the Battlehammer, this mortar like weapon is great at bombarding an enemy with heavy amounts of green plasma, if you fired many shots into the air wait a few seconds and notice how the ground will be blitzed by the plasma, great for hitting many opponents easily, definitely a formidable weapon if used well.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Samus

Samus is a hunter from the galactic federation, her suit was made by a race known to many as the Chozo, the suit protects her from adverse environments and enemy fire, Samus was seen a legendary hunter after she crushed the space pirates which was suggested one of the reasons Weavel wants her dead, her weapon of choice is nothing spectacular, a simple missile with a bit of a twist, they home on on their target when charged and when contact is made it delivers a heavy blow that can devastate an enemies life bar easily, one of the most interesting weapons of her suit is the infamous morph ball, this sphere like weapon moves at incredibly good speed armed with powerful bombs, when the morph ball moved at speed it gains momentum and when it strikes an opponent as well as giving the victim a nasty hit dropping a bomb can cause extra damage which makes more then short work of an enemy. Samus is the single player character which most Metroid players recognise the most, she is a great trademark to Nintendo and their have been rumours of another game featuring this heroine.

Alinos Perch

Ok so here we are, finally at the level Alinos Perch, let me guess you want to kick butt, well my friend let me set you up with some fun tactics, first of you have the sniping option, to snipe easily and efficiently all you need to do I'd find yourself a nice little spot that's quiet and away from the action and let your Imperialist do the talking, pick your shots well because once you fire, everyone will notice you, which yes you guessed it, that isn't good, so make sure you have your shot before making a fool of yourself, don't worry about getting the kill though, if he escapes your eye simply wait for him to reappear and give him a nasty surprise when he does, depending on how far out your enemy is you might want to aim in front of the target so that the beam connects with your victim perfectly to get the best result of head shot, well anyway lets just say sniping isn't your strong point, and you want to get stuck in the action, I suggest using a more faster capable weapon like the Judicator or the volt driver, these weapons can cause ultimate chaos when used in the heat of battle, the Judicator and the shadow freeze technique can be used if you want to run or simply get in a few shots, to do this wonderful skill simply aim your weapon forward, charge then release, the wave will dive in three dimensions, up, down and forward, this will render the enemy useless for a period of time which is time you can use to throw anything you want at your enemy whether it will be a missile of a different power weapon, another thing you may want to consider is the volt driver, this weapon as I mentioned before can deliver a powerful impact distortion which can disorient your opponent which also can give you some time to put some heated plasma in him, to do this you do the same as before, charge aim and release, the Volt charged shot should home in on your opponent so no worries if your aim is a little off, apart from this the volt driver is also very quick which means you can delver many smaller blasts of need be, now if you want a bit more speed, obviously you want an alt form, now if i were to suggest any alt form it would be Sylux, his alt travels at a medium speed with a good arsenal of weapons, the trip wire and the tri bomb are great for setting traps and making easy work of an enemy, along with his favorite weapon the shock coil to keep your life floating.

7. Sanctorus
Best Hunters : Weavel and Sylux (Please note that it comes down to whether you have mastered your character or not, but those two are the best in terms of map control.
Items : Featured weapons: Missiles, Volt Driver, and affinity.

Sanctorus Map Guide: Metroid Prime: Hunters

When you spawn, you will end up near one of two healths. One health is over by the double damage, and the other is by the opposite wall. Grab whichever health you are closest too, and the other if your opponent did not grab it. Then go get the volt driver on the top level the top of the map. (Note too come out from the upper level differently each time). Now begin your fight. If you are Sylux, put a tripwire on one of the healths, your opponent will not get it. If they do go for a health, switch to the volt driver and unleash hell on them. Once your opponent has been killed, keep getting all of the healths so that they can not get them and kill them. If you gain control of the map, the chance of you winning the match skyrockets.

Council Chamber
Best Hunters :
Items :
Size :
This map is an enlarged version of Alinos Perch. Please note that it holds every weapon (no affinity pickups), one gold health orb, and three blue orbs (four present in a four player match).

Council chamber Guide:

Well I'm not one for making sand castles, however this level can become your personal owning ground with a few simply tactics and moves, the characters i suggest for this is Sylux and Trace, his quick motion of speed plus the tripwires makes traps a load of fun, or as the enemy would say, "a load of annoying crap" and the Triskelion is good for hiding and escaping making things fun but irritating for the enemy.

Setting your Trap

Well who can say traps aren't fun, the best way to form your nasty trap is to find a place where the enemy will not see it coming in time for him to dodge the trap, a hallway or behind a kinetic barrier would be the prime place to set the electrical trip wire, for this to work patience is key, once you have placed your trip wire sit behind it and be ready to blast his ass with missiles the moment the wire hits him, a good four or five missiles plus the wire should be enough to send him packing, if your enemy happens to see it coming simply go into alt and trap him in the fatal blow with the triple bomb.

The shock coil:

If i had a dollar for every time i screamed because the shock coil wouldn't leave me alone id be a very rich man, this is possibly one of the most annoying weapons of metroid simply because it sticks to you (as long as your in range) simply hold the fire button down while following your opponent, this will sap his life force and replenish yours, handy of your running low and cant find health, this weapon is also Sylux's affinity weapon so never fear when you cant find the shock coil weapon, i suggest using this weapon for CQB moments only, it can become difficult to kill at distance and i would recommend the standard power beam and missiles for the hard to reach places, be warned, when facing an enemy Sylux with a shock coil, you will sap his life but he will also sap yours, normally the person with the most health always comes out on top so make sure your suited and booted before taking him on.

Fear the red mist

Trace is also a prime hunter for this level, his Imperialist laser provides excellent advantage for this level, with a wide open space and some enemies running around with shiny helmets the chamber is your oyster, simply find a hiding place like a corner or a ledge no one goes near and wait, if you stand still long enough you will turn invisible, this gives you all the time you need to make the perfect shot, be careful though, not everyone is deceived by his active camo, and be aware of other Trace users for they may try the same tactic and try to top you before you top them, take time when taking a shot and don't rush, their is a three second delay for the recharge on the imperialist which is more then enough time the enemy needs to take you down, so make sure you have the shot first.

Yes you have crabs

Trace has an alt form which is quite vicious and has easy travel, the Triskelion is a red crab that just loves to tear and shred flesh, very good at close combat this alt is effective for hit and runs and escapes, use his lunges well and be sure to find cover fast, when facing sammus i can only give one word of advice, run, don't try and fight because you will lose, its rare you will win an alt fight against sammus or noxus, kanden is a possibility but this alt was not made for attack purposes, it was made for travel and hiding, again if you stay still for long enough he will go invisible, so use this to get one over on the enemy by waiting for him to turn his back before lunging at him, quickly go to biped and give him a taste of your laser, mmmmm laser.

Transfer Lock
Best Hunters : Kanden, Samus, Weavel and Trace
Items : Imperialist, Volt Driver, Missles, Battlehammer
Size : Medium
[Info Provided by Supa Smurf]

Transfer Lock

Power-Ups: None
Transfer Lock is a rectangular shaped map, with key weapons on both sides. The Imperialist is on the side with the Bridge, and is the best weapon on this and any map. The Volt Driver is near the Jump Pad in the rear of the level, and the Battlehammer is to the left of the Volt Driver. missiles spawn from underneath the beginning of the bridge to the Imperialist. UA Ammo spawns on the front-right and left corners, and it also is placed to the left and the right of the ramp that leads to the health. The affinity orb spawns at the front of the map, in an enclosed alcove under the bridge.

Health can be found at the sides of the bridge up the first ramp. In 3-4 player matches, the health at the top of the structure is a gold orb, making it heal 100 health. You should keep an eye on where the health is, because you may need it faster than you think. There are portals on the left and right of the bridge, and they are in an enclosed alcove much like the affinity orb. These portals teleport you to the backside of the map, but you are in a tunnel that you cannot jump out of. You can travel to the left or the right. There is a Jump pad that boosts you out of the tunnel, and that is right by the Volt Driver, the Battlehammer, and a health orb. Make sure you know where these are when fighting, they could save you.

A couple things that most players don't realize about Transfer lock is that it is great for team matches. You can also play this map on multiple settings, and on some, like capture, it opens up a whole new area to fight in.
